Summer 2019

Curriculum Chronicle

Please click on the link below to find out what we will be learning this term.

As part of our work in science we have been exploring everyday forces including pushes and pulls. We had an egg blowing race and used blowing as a force to make bubbles!

In RE we are finding out about holy places. We visited our local church to create maps of the features, learning the names and what they are for. We also spent time exploring the grounds of the church.

We loved taking part in the small schools target/combat festival at Bishop Monkton School! We took part in lots of skills based activities including golf, target ball, crawling stuck in the mud and Mrs Ward's favourite scissors, paper, stone!  Caleb even got to sound the airhorn.

In geography our topic is 'Magical maps'. We started off by creating maps of our playground. The reception children recorded what they could see in front, behind and to the right and left of them. The Y1/Y2 children created plans using a key to record what they could see around school.

Egg Drop Challenge!

As part of our work in science on properties of materials we all made 'egg protectors'. We chose materials carefully and hoped that they wouldn't crack when we dropped them from the ladders. Five children successfully protected their eggs and everyone had lots of fun testing them!

World Book Day Fun!

On world book day we all came dressed up as Baddies from Books. There were some fantastic costumes! We shared lots of stories and made posters and book marks about our favourite books.

Autumn 2018

We visited Ripon Outwood Academy to take part in 'Infant agility'. We tried lots of different activities, including javelin, football and balancing.

We have been working hard on our teamwork skills in PE. We have enjoyed playing team games and problem solving together using lots of different equipment.

We have also enjoyed developing our PE gymnastic skills.

Our new starters have settled in beautifully! They have enjoyed exploring the classroom environment and are already working on their number skills inside and outside of the classroom.
