Welcome to Class 1.

We are a mixed age class of Reception, Y1 and Y2 children. Our teacher is Mrs Ward with Mrs Shaw and Miss Arthur as teaching assistants.

We love learning practically, exploring and investigating our environment inside and out.

We enjoy our topic work and love it when our literacy and numeracy are linked with it. We all enjoy challenges and love to be set tasks and hard work!

If you come into our classroom you will see we are hardworking, friendly, chatty and fun! We work really well as a team, helping each other out and supporting each other in whatever we do.

We had such a wonderful time at the Himilayan Gardens! We learnt alot about sculptures and used them as impiration for our own when we got back to school.

We went on a very snowy visit to Ripley Castle. We were looking carefully at features of the castle. We spotted turrets, gates, fancy windows and a moat! We also enjoyed exploring the grounds and wooded areas.

We have been lucky enough to be going to Rudding Park Golf Academy during our PE lessons. Our golf coach Steph has been teaching us how to hold the club properly and making sure our bodies are in the correct position to help us hit really good shots.

Curriculum Chronicle

In RE we have been thinking about the question "Who celebrates what and why?" We have learnt about birthdays, weddings, Diwali and Baptisms so far! We joined Rev. Paul in our church to role play a Christian baptism. We found out all about the ceremony and the symbols.

In PE we have been working with Mr Wells from Sporting Influence. He has helped us develop our football skills by teaching us how to use different parts of our foot to pass and dribble the ball. We are showing much more control and accuracy already!

We have also enjoyed an afternoon at an 'Infant agility festival' where we got to try lots of different activities. Our favourites were javilin and curling!
